The Griffith Historical Society was founded in 2023 by a group of passionate history students at Griffith University who shared a common goal: to create a vibrant community where those who love history could connect, collaborate, and deepen their understanding of the past. Through events and social gatherings, we have built a space where historical inquiry thrives and where students of all backgrounds and interests are welcomed.
In 2025, recognising the incredible talent and creativity among our members, we established the Historicity Journal subcommittee. This initiative was born from a desire to showcase student work and provide a platform for emerging voices in historical research and storytelling. Our journal is unique in that it not only features rigorous academic essays but also celebrates creative expressions of history, including historical fiction, visual art, poetry, and experimental writing.
At the heart of both the Society and the Journal is our belief that history is for everyone. We are committed to making the study and sharing of history accessible, engaging, and dynamic. We encourage critical thinking, support innovative approaches, and celebrate the diverse ways students connect with the past.
Together, we are building a community that doesn’t just study history — we live it, question it, and bring it vividly to life.
